{mosimage}Carl Zeiss Jena has introduced three new Georgian players for the upcoming season.

Jena has managed to avoid relegation from the second Bundesliga on the last matchday of the previous season with two georgians on board. Georgi Lomaia, the national team goalkeeper, was mostly secure between the posts and saved his team a couple of points. Mikheil Ashvetia on the other hand was seldomly able to prove his skill. Both Lomaia and Ashvetia left Jena after the season; nevertheless three new Georgian signings were introduced.

Giorgi Oniani, Giorgi Seturidze (both Olimpi Rustavi) and Ilia Kandelaki (Chernomorets Odessa) are the new Georgian names on Jenas team list. The management of the club especially pins its hopes on Oniani. “He represents that what we were looking for in order to stabilize our defence”, Jena manager Lindemann is cited, “he can play well with his head, is strong in tackling, quick and more than that in good shape”. Revaz Barabadze, who has spent a couple of weeks with the team on trial, was only offered a contract for the second team, which plays in Oberliga (4th divison) and Carl zeiss officials are now trying to get a work permit for the young Georgian forward.
