A National Team of Georgia has played the International Friendly Match and won 2:1 to the host A National Team of Wales in Swansea, Wales on 20th of August, 2008. This is the first match for A national Team of Georgia with the Argentinean Head Coach Héctor Raul Cúper.


The host National A Team of Wales took lead in the first half of the Match, 2 goals were scored in the hosts’ gate in the second half. A National Team of Georgia equalized the score on the 67th minute, through the perfect pass by Zurab Menteshashvili, Levan Kenia managed to slide the ball in. Beka Gotsiridze, who entered the field after substitution, made a header and scored the final and winning goal of the Match.


This is the third time A National team of Georgia played and won against A National Team of Wales. We’ll remind you that both previous Matches between these Teams were played during the Qualifying Round for EURO 1996. The first Match ended with the score 5:0 in Tbilisi, with the victory of Georgian A National Team and the away Match ended with the score 0:1 in Cardiff.


A National Team of Georgia missed the following football players due to different reasons (trauma and visa problems): Kakha Kaladze; Levan Kobiashvili; David Siradze; Giorgi Shashiashvili; Lasha Salukvadze; Ilia Kandelaki; David Kvirkvelia; Jaba Kankava.


A National Team of Georgia will play the next Match in the Qualifying Round of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa on 6th of September, 2008. The first rival for A National Team of Georgia will be A National Team of Ireland; the following rival will be the host A National Team of Italy on 10th of September, 2008 in Udine.
