Milan could be without defender Kakha Kaladze for a significant period after he sustained a knee ligament injury last night.
It was a good night for the Rossoneri as they shrugged off FC Zurich to book their place in the Group stage of the UEFA Cup.
But the jubilation was tempered by fears over Georgian international stopper Kaladze, who had to come off after half an hour.
“After Kaladze left the pitch in the first half with an injury, Milan's medical staff found a ligament problem in his left knee,” a statement from the Diavolo reads.
“In the next few hours we will evaluate the extent of the problem and the recovery schedule.”
Kaladze could be out for a while, which will put pressure on Carlo Ancelotti's strained defence.
Philippe Senderos and Alessandro Nesta are still injured, leaving Daniele Bonera and Paolo Maldini likely to start against Cagliari.
