Fiorentina are still looking for defenders to sign in the transfer market, and, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, their latest target is Milan's Kakha Kaladze.
Coach Cesare Prandelli is eager to add an experienced defender to his squad, and Kaladze would be an ideal choice. The 31-year-old can play both centre-back and left-back, and he carries with him years of Champions League experience, having played for Dynamo Kiev prior to his €16 million move to Italy.
"We won't buy a centre-back, there is no silk available and I won't pay a silk price for wool," sporting director Pantaleo Corvino claimed recently, alluding to over-inflated prices for the Viola's former targets, such as Luisao.
However, the feeling around the club is that the Gigliati will still move for one defender before the end of the month. Kaladze would be a relatively cheap option at around €4m as he is surplus to requirements at Milanello, with Alessandro Nesta, Thiago Silva and Oguchi Onyewu ahead of him in the pecking order.
Kaladze, capped 65 times for Georgia, was linked with a move to Bayern Munich as a replacement for Lucio earlier this summer, but the move never got off the ground.
